 Abortion Counseling

free pregnancy test Buffalo, NY There are risks involved with choosing abortion. The Lockport CareNet Pregnancy Center can provide you with accurate abortion information & abortion counseling, so that you are aware of all the risks and can make the right decision.

In most abortions, no serious complications occur, but complications arise in 1 out of every 100 early abortions and about 1 in every 50 late-term abortions. There are common physical side effects, like abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding, but patients at abortion clinics are known to also suffer more serious side effects, such as:

  • Heavy Bleeding—A transfusion may be required, especially if there is hemorrhaging caused by a tear in the uterine artery.
  • Infection—Bacteria may get into the uterus, causing an infection that may lead to a persistent fever and extended hospitalization.
  • Incomplete Abortion—Parts of the fetus may not be removed by the abortions, resulting in bleeding and/or infection.
  • Allergic Reactions to Drugs—An allergic reaction to anesthesia used during abortion surgery can result in convulsions, cardiac arrest, and (in extreme cases) death.
  • Tearing of the Cervix—The cervix may be cut or torn by abortion instruments.
  • Scarring of the Uterine Lining—Suction tubing, curettes, and other abortion instruments may cause permanent scarring of the uterine lining, which can affect future pregnancies.
  • Perforation of the Uterus—The uterus may be punctured or torn by abortion instruments, possibly resulting in major surgery, including a hysterectomy.
  • Damage to Your Internal Organs—When the uterus is punctured or torn, there is a risk that damage could also occur to nearby organs, such as the bowel or bladder.
  • Death—In rare, extreme cases (less than 20 per year) the above physical complications may lead to death.

It is our primary mission to provide women of all ages who are considering an abortion, the proper information concerning the procedure and side effects. We also want to ensure that our patients understand that there are abortion alternatives should they decide to not proceed with the abortion. Pregnancy can be a frightening time for those who feel unprepared or ill informed. We want you to feel comfortable and knowledgeable about whatever your choice may be.

For those who have gone through an abortion, your emotional stress may be running quite high. Our abortion counseling services will help you in dealing with any feelings of guilt, loss, confusion, etc. that you may be experiencing.
